"No Mud, No Lotus," - Thich Nhat Hanh

Swathi Raghuraman wasn't always a runner. In fact, there was a time when she could hardly run 100 meters ,having misconceptions about who could be a 'serious runner.' Thanks to her sister Coach Sujaa and the rest of the family that joined in and couldn't stop talking about running, she caved too .Thus began her journey with RHWB more than three years ago

Over six seasons, she found immense strength and support from both running and this community during some challenging personal and professional times and it has quietly become a constant in her life. The fire of tough times is where tough people are born and she learnt long distance running is a beautiful way to remember this, every time you show up.

This transformative experience inspired her to want to help others who may not see themselves as athletic or even capable of running.

As a race director in Chennai, Swathi has had the pleasure of facilitating races for masters, the senior citizen runners. Witnessing their determination and success has been profoundly inspiring.

This season, season 12, marks her exciting foray into coaching. Her primary goal for this first season as a coach is to induct more non-runners in the local community and help them discover the runner within.

Her coaching philosophy centers on guiding each runner to look inward to find their pace, discover their abilities, and run with joy.

Outside of running, Swathi is a writer, director, and producer of films and series. She has been in the industry for over 20 years, driven by her love for stories and the tremendous influence movies and books have had on her life.

Swathi is particularly drawn to stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, which fuels her passion for her work every day. Her notable works include writing and directing the Amazon Original Tamil series Sweet Kaaram Coffee and serving as the executive producer of the Tamil feature film Super Deluxe. As a director, she enables different creatives to deliver their best potential, much like what a coach does. She believes that, similar to a film, a running season can be life-altering. Through coaching, she has the unique opportunity to witness and support individuals as they craft their own success stories, one run at a time.

Testimonials

"Swathi is a fantastic coach! Her motivation, prompt feedback, and valuable suggestions have boosted my confidence. I'm grateful for her guidance and look forward to completing this program with her support."

I didn’t how I would stop being lazy and get through at the start of the season but the right motivation and suggestions have helped a lot, all thanks to Swathi 😄

Swathi is a great nudger specially for a person with my style of inter-communication.

One word to describe Swathi is that she is “genuine”. She takes the effort to know each of our styles, what gets us going and how to fix our individual concerns relative to running. She gives prompt feedback and the best part is that she provides feedback in a way where it’s always motivating & positive, but at the same time we have a takeaway for our next run ! She’s awesome…
