"Don’t let people who don’t matter too much , matter too much."

Mona Khetan lives in Edison, NJ, with her husband Krishnakant (KK) and their two amazing children, Samiksha and Tanishk. By profession, she is a fashion designer, and by passion, she is a kathak dancer, volunteer Hindi teacher at Hindiusa.org, and an athlete from her childhood days. Forgiveness is the key to her inner peace, and she is dedicated to her practice of meditation, having completed two Vipassana meditation courses in Delaware.

Mona’s journey toward fitness gained momentum after her son joined the RHWB program in Season 2. Accompanying him on his 4-mile runs during the cold winter days of Season 3 brought back memories of her childhood when her school principal lovingly called her PT Usha for winning gold medals on sports day. This experience rekindled her energy, courage, and desire to work towards her health goals. Taking small steps, like walking two miles while her son ran, awakened a hidden can-do mindset in her, leading her to seek proper guidance to achieve her goals.

The RHWB program, with the support and guidance of Head Coach Balaji, helped Mona transition into a lifestyle where fitness is no longer a short-term goal but a way of living. Since joining the program, she has proudly completed two 10Ks and two half marathons.

Initially, integrating running into her daily routine was an effort, but with RHWB’s holistic approach, Mona made better life choices and informed decisions about her physical health. Feeling more energetic and fitter than ever, she has continued to nurture her creative side, making masks during the pandemic, sewing quilts for her kids, creating fabric bowls, kitchen aprons, and even a few clothes for herself and friends. Leading the RHWB volunteers and runners T-shirt project reminded her of her workdays in the fashion industry in NYC and has brought her immense contentment. If you notice a kitchen apron on Balaji, you know where it’s from!

Mona’s friends and family have always been a great support, and she cherishes sharing her RHWB news with them. Her passion for reading comes from her father, a gift she continues to nurture.
