“Magic happens outside the comfort zone”.

Maintaining the status quo is the easiest option and requires little to no effort. We should strive to challenge ourselves, embrace new experiences, and face uncertainties to experience personal growth. Viswanath (Vis) Valluri, played all the major sports growing up but was never into running. He seriously believed that running was for people who didn’t play sports(!) and so never ventured into it ...until 2020. His college classmate GV Ganesh convinced him to give running a shot and Vis was bitten by the running bug.

What drew him to running was the fact that it was the first sport which truly represented the true “SELF”. Since joining RHWB in season 5, Vis has completed around 10 Half Marathons and aspires to complete his first FM in 2025. “My first season with RHWB was transformational and the effects were visible. The structured way of learning a new sport, setting audacious goals, having a mentor in coach Vats, understanding the science of running, the analytics involved and the supportive community - all made a huge impact on me.

The experience was so good that I started recruiting several of my family and friends into the program. The platform that Bala has created at RHWB connects amazing human beings and running happens to be one of the mediums. I wanted to be a part of this giving group as it scales to even greater heights”. Vis lives in the SF bay area with his wife Deepthi, and kids Pratham and Parnika (both RHWB runners). On the professional side he has worked in the semiconductor industry across manufacturing, finance, and marketing for close to 3 decades.

He is very passionate about technology and its impact on society. Outside of work, Vis volunteers as a committee member and merit badge counselor at his daughter’s scout troop. He also leads the sunday school program, ‘Peninsula Balvihar’, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching children about Indian culture and values; and enjoys training students for Bhagavad Gita chanting contests.
